The British Fashion Council (BFC) is delighted to announce that The Fashion Awards 2020 short film will premiere on www.fashionawards.com on Thursday 3rd December 2020 at 7pm GMT. The film will be available for everyone.
Today, the BFC released The Fashion Awards Trailer, a one-minute long preview of the film that will celebrate the people and organisations who have led change in 2020. The trailer includes a first look at this year’s presenters, including Millie Bobby Brown, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Rosalía.
The Fashion Awards 2020 will look back at a year in fashion and recognise the people and
organisations who led change in four categories: Community, Creativity, Environment and People. The
film will spotlight twenty Honourees; from those who bravely faced this challenging year with pro-
active responses to the global pandemic, showed leadership and creative resilience over the past
year, to the ones who stood up against prejudice within the fashion industry and fight for change. A
number of international talent from the music, film and sports industry present each one of the four
categories, proving the close affinity between fashion and other key creative industries.
Caroline Rush, BFC CEO said: “What the past couple of months have shown us, is that the fashion industry is in need of a reset. This is why this year, under unique circumstances, we felt that it was important to recognise the people and businesses who played a role in some of the most important and challenging issues of our generation and champion those who raised the bar in areas such as diversity, sustainability, and community.”
Stephanie Phair, BFC Chair commented: “This has been a year like no other. Fashion has probably been changed forever and businesses and designers have had to adapt to a new reality. It is more important than ever to recognise those in the fashion industry who played an important role in this extraordinary year, proving the compassion and resilience of our industry. This is what The Fashion Awards 2020 have set to do, by spotlighting those who have shown leadership and creative resilience over the past year.”
The BFC will continue to work with longstanding partner Swarovski and re-focus their support on the launch of a new initiative for 2021, in line with the new BFC strategy. The BFC is grateful to Swarovski who has been a vital partner of the organisation for the past 14 years.
The Fashion Awards 2021 will take place on Monday 29th November 2021, at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
The BFC would like to thank its longstanding Official Partners of The Fashion Awards for their generosity, collaboration and commitment, particularly during this unprecedented year with a special thanks to American Express, Bird in Hand Wine, Getty Images and LAVAZZA for their ongoing support.
The British Fashion Council is delighted to work with Parley for the Oceans who commissioned
3D-printing design specialist Nagami to create a trophy made out of Parley Ocean Plastic®, for The
Fashion Awards 2020.
The trophy represents the BFC and Parley’s commitment to encourage positive change within the
fashion industry, their efforts to help raise awareness and transparency to promote a more responsible
future and encourage the dialogue on environmentally conscious design. The trophy spotlights the
necessity of creative collaboration and eco-innovation, essential to overcome the current global crisis.
